Robin Robertson is from the northeast coast of Scotland. He has received a number of honors for his poetry, including the E.M. Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His third book, Swithering, won the 2006 Forward Prize for Best Collection. He lives and works in London.

Another of my favorite elements is that they that they have known each other for most of their lives so their attraction is understandable, a lot of early history is not necessary to the telling, the parents wanted to connect the two families but not the two "flawed" members. This book is an easy, short, and simple read. I had no idea living with bipolar disorder was so on hard, not only on the person affected, but those around him as well. Excellent. Durrell seems incapable of writing a bad book - his ever-so-lively wittiness and ability to describe different people and animals in a funny way are truly amazing!
