Dr. Richard Griffiths studied zoology at the University if London and gained a doctorate for research on the behavior of newts and salamanders. He has since traveled widely in Europe to study amphibians and had carried out research and consultancies on all the British species. He holds a lectureship in biodiversity conservation at the University of Kent, and is a Council Member of the British Herpetological Society.
